My Review:
Spunky heroines, romance, and a lot of actions. This book was definitely fun.
The characters were wonderful. The three girls, Cora, Nellie, and Michiko, met by chance, and soon after, they teamed up to investigate the murders happening in London. The girls were awesome together and on their own. They had fun personalities and were always up to something. They even had me laughing out loud in spots.
I loved Nellie and Officer Murphy, even though the romance felted … rushed, it was still cute and sweet. Officer Murphy was so adorable, blushing at everything. He was awkward and sweet, and was so contradicting to Nellie’s outgoing and outspoken personality, that he was just perfect.
There was no lack of action, or guns, for that matter, in The Friday Society. The girls were always doing something that got them into a predicament. Their antics mixed with the guns, and the boys kept this book light, even with a murderer running around.
Where it stumped me … Well, the beginning was awesome but the middle slowed. I found myself picking it up only to read a page or two before finding something else to do. I just couldn’t stay in it, and for a good 100 pages, I really struggled to keep going. But, with that said, the ending was fantastic.
Oh, and something that really surprised me for a traditionally published book was all thespelling/grammar issues. It wasn’t that there were tons, but there were enough for me to actually notice them.
Overall, The Friday Society was fun and entertaining. If you like steampunk and spunky female leads then try this one out.
