Summary:
Megan Banks feels like an imposter in her own life; she doesn’t belong with her friends or with her parents, who ignore her. After a fire she’s indirectly involved with, she finds herself with two hundred hours of community service. It’s the charity she volunteers at that finally makes her feel like she belongs. These people, with whom she has nothing in common, mean more to her than her rich, selfish friends.

But for some reason her supervisor, Nate Green, doesn’t want her there. He thinks she’s a self-centered rich girl who deserves to be in jail. After she’s threatened by the kids who started the fire, Nate and Megan form a strange friendship, built only for her protection. But the more she feels for him, the more he pushes her away.

As they become closer, Megan knows Nate is attracted to her as well, but she also believes that he is hiding something. But she could never guess what he really is. Before she realizes what is happening, she becomes involved in a world she didn't know existed.

In this strange new reality, can she finally find a place where she belongs?
Review:

This book rocked.  After reading the prequel, Riley’s Curse, I was pretty much salivating for more and Riley’s Secret did not disappoint.

In this segment of A Moon’s Glow Series, Megan Banks is forced to do community service at Riley House, a place that helps those in need get back on their feet. When shehas a run-in with her supervisor, Nate Green, she doesn’t understand why he hates her.  But, soon it becomes all too clear that he doesn’t actually hate her, but he’s hidingsomething, and she is determined to find out what that something is.  Will she be able tosurvive the truth?  You’ll have to read this awesome book to find out.

Smith gives us a new side of Nate as he struggles to keep Megan at an arm’s length.  He starts out as a bit of a dumbass, which actually helps to turn his character from a blossom to a full and lushes bloom.  I found myself cursing him, loving him, and probably most importantly, feeling compassion for him.  He makes some stupid choices, and this makes him all the more real and easy to relate to.   Let’s face it, real life is full of stupid and sometimes mindless choices.

Smith took the simple idea of “wolves mating for life” and added a supernatural twist.  I have to admit, I’m a sucker for soulmates.  There is something so magical about the idea of having one and only one “mate”.  What I loved about this book is that it showed how powerful true love can be.  You can try to run, hope to hide, but when you find that person, even if being with them could mean certain death for both of you, you just can’t fight it.  It’s inevitable; you cannot hide for your perfect mate.

The writing flowed smoothly; the characters were fantastic, and the plot was gripping.  Smith never let the life of her characters get too comfortable, which in turn gives us, the reader, a book packed full of page turning suspense.

I highly recommend Riley’s Secret by Christina Smith and definitely will be counting the days for the next part of Megan and Nate’s story.
